The backup service is one of the possibilities of cloud computing, where users don’t have any idea exactly where their data is stored, however, it will be available and accessible from anywhere and whenever you need.
There are several backup services available in the clouds. In this article, we are going to discuss about one of the cloud backup services known as SugarSync. Not all of the features of the tool will be explored in this post, but only those similar to other backup services in the clouds.
SugarSync is a service having two membership options; Free (with limitations) and Paid (All features enabled). Although, a free account plan is listed on the homepage, it is no longer available, however, you can choose to have a 30-Day Free Trial account. In order to create an account, choose the best suited plan with adequate storage to meet your requirements and click on the download button. Once you click the download button it will ask for credentials for sign-up. Enter it and continue to create your account. Make sure to select the mobile device you are using or simply select “I don’t use a mobile device”. Once you have created your account, download the SugarSync manager and install it on your machine or device. During the setup process, it will ask you to pick folders from your computer to sync to SugarSync. Before installing it make sure to consider which folders you’ll choose.
Install the application. The installation is quite intuitive, in the style next-next-finish. Once it is installed, select the folders from your system to send it to the cloud. SugarSync will automatically send your files to your repository on the Internet. Furthermore, it is possible to backup over a computer keeping them synchronized.
Such cloud backup services also offers applications for mobile devices to access the data stored in the cloud. SugarSync now has its own applications for iPhone/iPad, BlackBerry, Android, Symbian, Windows, Palm Web OS. So, get out of the caves and store your backups in the clouds.
